We will never be able to diversify our economy if we do not improve the performance of our schools. Parents need more choice in their children’s education, good teachers need to be supported and rewarded, and everyone involved needs to be accountable for the results we get from the tax dollars we spend.
Our schools need direction. Governor Sandoval and the last legislative session did a great job of providing a platform to start moving forward but the job needs to be finished. Our higher education systems need clearly defined missions. Currently they compete for much of the same revenue while trying to accomplish the same tasks. They need to focus on key areas that are their core competencies and be a part of a greater education system for Nevadans.
